About Wai Whare

Wai Whare is a 1986 26′ Annapolis sloop. It was made by Ontario Yachts from plans designed by the Annapolis sailing school.

The name is Maori for “water home”. It was the winner of the “Name Our Boat” contest we held after we first bought the boat. We asked for suggestions from our friends and family, picked the ones we liked best, then held a vote. Wai Whare, one of Darusha’s mother’s suggestions, won (the runner up was “Gone Fission”, a suggestion by our friend Tonje).

At Anchor

After many adventures and wonderful times aboard Wai Whare, we have now bought a larger, offshore boat. Therefore, Wai Whare is free to guide someone new over the waves.
