Look up, look waay up.

In preparation for our upcoming trip to Friday Harbor, we had to ready Wai Whare for a visit to foreign waters. This process included setting up a flag halyard for, among other things, courtesy flags of other nations. To get this up and running, I winched Steven up the mast in our new bosun’s chair.

It was both harder than I imagined it would be, mostly because the main winch is located in a tight space that doesn’t allow for full rotation with the winch handle. However, it was a pretty smooth operation, and I went up myself part of the way to get a feel for climbing up the mast. Pretty nifty.

Unfortunately, we hadn’t planned ahead all that well, and we’d left the camera at home. So you’ll have to wait for a bird’s eye view of the boat.
